Let's face it, there's nothing worse than a hot bedroom or office in the middle of summer or a cold shower in the middle of winter. Don't ever be in that situation again. We offer many different maintenance agreements that we can tailor to fit your needs. We also offer all kinds of accessories to assure your air conditioning and heating units work properly and efficiently year round.

Cardinal Air has been installing and servicing home and commercial air conditioning units for over 20 years and we know what it takes to make our customers happy. In most cases, we offer prompt same day service. We can even work around your schedule with 24 hour emergency service.

Having your air conditioning and heating systems working at maximum efficiency is what Cardinal Air strives for!

Service Rates

  • We charge a flat rate of $140 for a diagnostic/checkup for one system. Each additional system requiring service is an additional $40.
  • The diagnostic fee guarantees that we will find out what the problem is, no matter how long we spend figuring it out.
  • You are not charged by the hour while we are diagnosing the problem.
  • This way we can thoroughly inspect every detail of your air conditioning or heating unit without it costing you any more than a diagnostic fee.
  • We try to utilize flat rate pricing wherever possible to save you as much money as possible by avoiding hourly charges.
  • Our service rates are $100/hour
  • This rate only applies if we are performing a specific job, such as changing a compressor or any other labor intensive job.
  • Emergency rates are $140/hour from door to door.
  • New installs are priced according to each application. Please contact us for a free estimate.
  • All labor is guaranteed for one year.

Commercial Emergency Service

We know that running a business relies heavily on the proper operation of all air conditioning and heating systems.

Our Emergency service for commercial applications has a prompt response time. We prioritize commercial service because your business cannot wait. We know that a hot department store pushes away customers; we know that an improperly working chiller for large scale printers causes ink to not dry properly; we know that if a storage unit is advertised as climate controlled than the units need to be maintained meticulously. These are all considerations we've thought of and have concluded that to best serve all of our commercial customers we provide you with fast Emergency service and reliable preventative maintenance at competitive pricing.

If you need a replacement unit, we can get one installed and working promptly and then we can get out of your way so you can get back to work. For all units replaced or repaired, we supply a one year worry free warranty on all parts and labor.

Maintenance Agreements

"An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure".
- Benjamin Franklin

Preventative maintenance is perhaps the best way to get the most out of any mechanical system. We offer many types of maintenance agreements that cater to your specific needs. If you own a business or home you can rest assured that we can provide you with the peace of mind that your air conditioning and/or heating system will be working properly. We design our maintenance agreements so that your entire system meets the manufacturers' requirements for extended warranty. Maintenance agreements will also ensure a proper functioning system year round. With the purchase of a maintenance agreement you receive priority over all other service calls should you encounter a problem with your system.

All of our plans can be adjusted for your needs, but our basic plans are as follows. We provide two scheduled visits per year. The visit will always be in the spring and the fall, right before the extremes of the winter and summer seasons. Each visit will include the following tune-up:

  • Fall tune-up for heating (Sep-Dec)
  • Spring tune-up for air conditioning (Jan-May)

Contact us for pricing on residential and commercial units or for a modified agreement.

Purchase an agreement online here.

Benefits of a Maintenance Agreement:
  • Two free visits per year
  • Having a qualified service technician checking your system twice a year can prevent any major issues from suddenly appearing. If any issue, such as a faulty contactor or low refrigerant, is found we can immediately fix it before it is noticed in the middle of summer.
  • The maintenance agreement gives priority over all non-contract customers and guarantees a response time of 24hrs for service calls, should the need arise.
  • A 10% discount will be applied on all replacement parts, including the addition of refrigerant (R-22 or R-410A).
  • Standard, disposable filters and CO2 charges to clear the condensate drain line will be provided by Cardinal Air.
  • Don't think you'll remember to call us? No problem, we call you and schedule the service at your convenience.

Repair vs. Replace

On Long Island, perhaps the biggest consideration you need to take into account is when it is cost effective to replace an older unit. The average life span of an air conditioning unit on Long Island is 10-15 years. If an 11 year old system fails and the cause is the compressor or another high price item, you may want to consider replacement.

You also need to be aware, however, that a phase out of R-22 refrigerants (the refrigerant used in most air conditioning systems) has begun and getting a replacement R-22 condenser is quite difficult now. Some manufacturers, like Trane, still make R-22 condensers, but they are largely disappearing. What this means to you is that any system you are likely to get will have to be the new R410 refrigerant. Unfortunately, R-22 and R-410A are not compatible, meaning the entire system will need to be replaced for an R-410A condenser to work properly with the air handler.

When to Repair your air conditioner:
  • Old air conditioning equipment becomes expensive to repair and offers no guarantee that additional problems are not close behind.
  • If you plan on moving soon, you may not get your investment price from a replacement air conditioning unit when you sell.
  • A replacement that involves other trades may be cost prohibitive. In rare situations, a new air conditioning system can require significant remodeling.
  • The system has been trouble free thus far and looks to be mechanically sound still.
When to Replace your air conditioner:
  • If the equipment has reached 6 years old be careful not to throw good money after bad with repairs. The average life span of an air conditioning unit is 6 to 12 years.
  • If the system is older than 12 years, major improvements in efficiency could be saving you BIG money. Super effiecient, modern equipment can save $1,000 or more per year.
  • If you are not comfortable. Todays modern air conditionong comfort systems can virtually eliminate hot and cold areas, high and low humidity, bad air quality, high utility bills, noisy indoor and outdoor equipment, and much more.
  • If your system does not have variable air flow. Variable air flow is the key to comfort. New systems keep the air moving, adding to comfort and helping save money.
  • If you are concerned about break downs. When an old system fails under the intense summer heat, a replacement air conditioner can easily be a week to 10 days away
  • Replace before the summer crunch hits. Do not pay higher summer prices. Many small air conditioning contractors prey on homeowners who must replace in summer when reputable companies get busy.
  • If family members have allergies, asthma or other air quality health concerns. Indoor air quality can be improved throughout the whole house by 100 times with todays high tech IAQ technology and air conditioning products.
  • Replace before Manufactures and Utility Companies rebates run out. Equipment manufacturers rebates are usually available through May. APS and SRP rebates can be discontinued at any time.
